The Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Suranjit Sengupta has said that the NGOs would be given a hearing on the proposed Foreign Donations Act before it is placed in the Parliament. He was talking to a group of leaders and representatives of NGOs and networks when they called on him at Jatiya Sangsad on 24 June 2014 to discuss the draft Foreign Donations Act. Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Gowher Rizvi was present.

 Several changes were made in the draft in a series of meetings during last two years with the Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Gowher Rizvi and the Director-General of the NGO Affairs Bureau, and some points are still to be sorted out. The Chairman of the Standing Committee was requested by the NGOs and networks for a meeting to discuss the issue after the draft was approved in principle by the Cabinet recently.
